Electrical selection
The 5 A at 250 VAC rating applies to a resistive load. It must not be transferred directly to motors, relays, solenoids, capacitive loads, DC circuits or loads with inrush current. Allow a suitable margin and use protection and an appropriate switching stage.
Omron specifies a reference minimum applicable load of 100 mA at 5 VDC for D2F/D2F-5. For very low-current logic signals, the gold-contact D2F-01 family is technically more suitable; therefore, although this switch can be used as an endstop, micro-load reliability must be validated in the actual circuit.
Mounting and soldering
- Use M2 screws with washers and a tightening torque of 0.08 to 0.1 N·m.
- Do not force the lever beyond useful travel or actuate it at an angle that creates side load.
- For manual soldering of PCB terminals, Omron specifies up to 350 °C for no more than 3 seconds.
- Apply no force to the terminals for at least one minute after soldering and keep flux and solder out of the case.
Use as an endstop
It may be wired through COM+NC or COM+NO. Where supported, COM+NC is generally preferred for noise immunity and because an open cable can produce a detectable state change. In Marlin set the appropriate hit state and test with M119; in Klipper use the correct GPIO, pull-up and inversion and verify with QUERY_ENDSTOPS; in RepRapFirmware 3 configure switch type S1 with M574.
