SC12LUU long linear bearing with aluminium housing for 12 mm shaft

The SC12LUU is a long linear motion unit for a 12 mm shaft, consisting of a ball bearing integrated into an aluminium housing. The block simplifies installation on carriages and platforms used in 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers, automation equipment and custom mechanical projects.

Compared with the short SC12UU unit, this version provides a greater guiding length. This may help distribute loads over a longer area, although the final result depends on the alignment, rigidity and geometry of the complete assembly.

These are the usual nominal dimensions for the SC12LUU family. Small differences may exist between manufacturers or production batches, particularly in secondary dimensions and thread depth. Measure the received unit before machining a precision mounting plate.

Compatibility and installation

It is designed for 12 mm nominal diameter smooth shafts, such as the cut-to-length 12 mm precision smooth rod.

The fact that a machine uses 12 mm shafts is not sufficient to guarantee compatibility. Shaft centre height, mounting pattern, available length and possible interference with other components must also be checked.

• Use calibrated shafts that are clean and free from surface damage.
• Carefully align the shafts when two or more units are used.
• Mount the housing on a flat and rigid surface.
• Tighten the screws gradually while checking that movement remains smooth.
• Do not use the motor to force a carriage that binds during manual testing.

Long and short versions

The SC12LUU may be suitable for large carriages or structures requiring a longer supporting base. However, it is not a direct dimensional replacement for the short SC12UU because the overall length and longitudinal mounting-hole spacing are different.
