The SC12UU is a linear motion unit consisting of a bearing for a 12 mm shaft integrated into an aluminium housing. The block simplifies installation on carriages, platforms and structures used in 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers, automation equipment and other linear motion systems.

The housing can be mounted directly onto a surface using four screws, avoiding the need to design a separate bearing holder.

These dimensions correspond to the usual commercial SC12UU standard. Some secondary dimension tables specify an overall height of 29 mm, while the dimensional reference used here specifies 28 mm. If this dimension is critical or the unit will be mounted on a plate without adjustment clearance, measure the received part before drilling the final holes.

Compatibility

It is designed for 12 mm nominal diameter precision smooth shafts, such as the cut-to-length 12 mm precision smooth rod.

Compatibility with a particular 3D printer or CNC machine does not depend solely on shaft diameter. The available length, shaft centre height, mounting pattern and possible interference with other carriage components must also be checked.

It should not be used on threaded rods, uncalibrated bars or shafts with damaged surfaces, as these may cause play, binding or premature wear.

Installation recommendations

  • Install the housing on a flat and sufficiently rigid surface.
  • Keep the shafts parallel and at the same height when several units are used.
  • Tighten the mounting screws progressively to avoid deformation or mechanical stress.
  • Check the complete travel manually before operating the motors.
  • Keep the shafts clean and use a lubricant suitable for linear ball bearings.

Short SC12UU or long SC12LUU

The SC12UU provides a compact assembly with a nominal length of 36 mm. When a longer supporting base is required, consider the long SC12LUU for 12 mm shafts, which has a nominal length of 70 mm.

Both versions operate on 12 mm shafts, but they are not dimensionally interchangeable: the housing length and longitudinal mounting-hole spacing are different.

For projects using a custom housing, the LM12UU linear bearing without housing is also available. The relationship refers to the nominal shaft diameter and bearing format; the mounting system must be checked separately.
