SC8LUU long linear bearing with aluminium housing for 8 mm shaft

The SC8LUU is a linear motion unit consisting of a long bearing for an 8 mm shaft integrated into an aluminium housing. The block simplifies installation on carriages, platforms and structures used in 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers, plotters and other linear motion systems.

Its long design provides a greater guiding length than the short SC8UU unit. This may help distribute loads and reduce carriage rocking, provided that the shafts are correctly aligned.

These dimensions correspond to the usual commercial SC8LUU standard, but small differences may exist between manufacturers or production batches. If the unit is to be installed on a machined plate without adjustment, measure the received part before drilling the final mounting holes.

Compatibility and installation

It is designed for 8 mm nominal diameter smooth shafts, such as the cut-to-length 8 mm precision smooth rod. It should not be used on threaded rods, uncalibrated bars or damaged surfaces, as these may cause play, binding or premature wear.

Compatibility with a particular 3D printer or CNC machine depends on shaft diameter, shaft centre height, mounting-hole spacing and available space. Using the same 8 mm shaft diameter does not by itself guarantee direct replacement compatibility.

• Install the shafts parallel and without mechanical stress.
• Avoid tightening the structure in a way that deforms or misaligns the housing.
• Check that the carriage moves smoothly by hand before operating the motors.
• Keep the shafts clean and use a lubricant suitable for linear ball bearings.

Long or short housing

The SC8LUU is suitable when a longer supporting base is required. However, it is not dimensionally interchangeable with the short SC8UU because both the housing length and longitudinal mounting-hole spacing are different.
