SC8UU linear bearing with aluminium housing for building motion systems based on 8 mm calibrated smooth shafts. The block integrates the bearing and provides a rigid base with four mounting holes, making installation easier on the carriages and frames of 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers and other linear-motion projects.
Main features
- Format: SC8UU.
- Dimensionally compatible with 8 mm smooth shafts.
- Linear bearing integrated into an aluminium housing.
- Four holes for mounting the block to a carriage or frame.
- Recirculating-ball linear motion.
- Contents: 1 unit.
Mechanical compatibility
This bearing is designed to operate on an 8 mm calibrated smooth shaft. It is not suitable for threaded rods, lead screws or shafts with a different diameter.
It can be used in 3D printers, plotters, laser engravers and CNC machines designed around SC8UU bearing blocks. It may also be found in some CNC 1610, 2418 and 3018 machine variants, but these machines have many different revisions. Before using it as a replacement, check the shaft diameter, mounting-hole spacing, shaft centre height and available installation space.
It should not be considered a direct replacement for an unsupported LM8UU linear bearing. Although both operate on 8 mm shafts, the SC8UU housing changes the mounting interface and shaft height. Prusa i3-derived printers and models such as the Anet A8 commonly use LM8UU bearings fitted inside specific parts, so an adapted carriage will normally be required to install an SC8UU block.
It is also not a direct replacement for printers such as the Creality Ender-3 family, whose original motion system uses wheels running on aluminium profiles instead of SC8UU blocks and 8 mm smooth shafts.
SC8UU or SC8LUU
The SC8UU is a compact option for installations with limited space. When the design requires a longer guiding surface or greater resistance to carriage rotation, consider the SC8LUU long linear bearing with housing, after checking its dimensions and mounting points.
Related components
The shaft ends can be secured using components such as the SK8 support for 8 mm shafts or the SHF8 support for 8 mm shafts, depending on the frame geometry.
Installation recommendations
- Use a straight, smooth shaft with a surface finish suitable for linear bearings.
- Check the alignment between parallel shafts before fully tightening their supports.
- Avoid forcing misaligned bearings, as this can increase friction and wear.
- Keep the shaft clean and lubricated with a product suitable for linear bearings.
- Verify the housing dimensions and mounting pattern when using it as a replacement part.
