Diameter:
Diameter 8mm
Diameter 10mm
Diameter 12mm
Available Options
Ø8 mm calibrated smooth rod made from austenitic AISI 304 stainless steel with an h9 dimensional tolerance and polished finish. It is cut to the requested length for building or repairing linear-motion systems in 3D printers, CNC machines, automation and light machinery.
AISI 304 is a chromium-nickel stainless steel that offers good general-purpose corrosion resistance. The polished surface provides a consistent running surface for compatible bearings and bushes when the mechanism is correctly aligned.

Straightness and lengths over 600 mm
Original straightness permits a maximum deviation of 1 mm per metre. This condition is assured for rods up to 600 mm. For longer rods, factory straightness cannot be guaranteed to remain unchanged after transport because a long bar may flex or be stressed during handling.
If the mechanism requires high precision, check the rod on a reference surface before installation. A rod longer than 600 mm may require straightening or subsequent adjustment. For lengths over 1.2 m shipped outside mainland Spain, please ask about transport conditions before ordering.
Dimensional compatibility
The 8 mm diameter allows it to be combined with an LM8UU linear bearing, LM8LUU long bearing and an LM8UU-compatible self-lubricating bush. It can also be secured with SK8 or SHF8 supports, depending on mounting orientation.
This is dimensional compatibility, not a universal operating guarantee. Clearance, smoothness and service life also depend on the bearing's actual tolerance, alignment, parallelism, load and required surface finish. AISI 304 prioritises corrosion resistance and must not be confused with a hardened-steel shaft; for high loads or intensive use with ball bearings, check whether the bearing manufacturer requires a hardened running surface.
How to order
- Select the appropriate length range.
- Enter the exact required length in millimetres.
- Add as many units to the basket as the number of rods required.
The rod is cut manually and may include a small positive allowance to avoid supplying a part shorter than requested. The ends are filed, but clean them before fitting a bearing and check that no burr remains.
Other available diameters
For mechanisms that require a larger section, the 10 mm AISI 304 h9 smooth rod and 12 mm AISI 304 h9 smooth rod are also available. They are not interchangeable: bearings, supports and mechanism parts must match.
It is for you if...
- You need an 8 mm stainless steel rod cut to a specific length.
- Your system is designed for 8 mm h9 shafts and loads suitable for AISI 304.
- You value corrosion resistance and a polished finish.
It is not for you if...
- Your bearing specifically requires a hardened, case-hardened or differently rated shaft.
- You need a length over 600 mm to retain guaranteed straightness after transport.
- Your mechanism uses a different diameter or requires a tolerance other than h9.
