T8×8 brass-type anti-backlash nut comprising two threaded elements and a preload spring. It is designed for 8 mm trapezoidal lead screws and helps reduce part of the axial clearance between the nut and thread.
The spring keeps both threaded sections against opposite thread flanks. This arrangement may help in mechanisms with direction changes, but it cannot correct a bent lead screw, flexible structure, misaligned mounting or unsuitable preload.
Specifications
- Thread type: T8×8.
- Nominal diameter: 8 mm.
- Lead: 8 mm per revolution.
- Nominal pitch: 2 mm.
- Common four-start configuration.
- Brass-type construction.
- Two-piece nut with preload spring.
- Flange with four mounting holes.
Compatibility
Compatible with the T8×8 8 mm trapezoidal lead screw. It must not be installed on a T8×2 lead screw, even though both have the same nominal diameter.
It may be used as an alternative to the T8×8 brass flange nut or the T8×8 POM nut when the mounting bracket, available space and preload are suitable.
Installation considerations
- Confirm that there is enough room for the spring and second nut section.
- Do not compress the spring more than necessary.
- Align the nut and lead screw before tightening the flange.
- Manually check the full travel for binding.
- Do not use spring preload to compensate for mechanical misalignment.
Configuration
The nut does not change the lead-screw travel. For a T8×8 lead screw and 200-step motor, the theoretical values are 400 steps/mm at 1/16 and 800 steps/mm at 1/32 microstepping. In Klipper, the mechanical starting value is rotation_distance: 8.
