Oldham coupler designed to partially decouple a T8 lead-screw nut from its moving bracket, allowing a small amount of lateral compensation between both components. It is intended for linear motion systems where slight radial misalignment could transmit stress, vibration or unwanted movement to the structure.
This is not a shaft coupling for connecting a motor to a lead screw. It is installed between the trapezoidal nut and carriage or mounting bracket. Compatibility depends on the nut body dimensions, mounting holes and available space.
How it works
The Oldham arrangement uses sliding elements that allow limited transverse movement while transmitting linear motion. It may help isolate the carriage from radial lead-screw deviation, but it cannot correct a bent screw, severe overall misalignment or structural defects.

Conditional compatibility
It may be used with T8 nuts whose body fits the approximately 10.3 mm housing and whose mounting geometry matches the coupler. The T8 designation only confirms the nominal lead-screw diameter; it does not guarantee that every T8 nut has the correct external geometry.
Before installation, check:
- Nut body outer diameter.
- Mounting-hole pattern and diameter.
- Available height around the lead screw.
- Unobstructed coupler movement throughout the full travel.
- That the permitted lateral movement is sufficient but not excessive.
Installation
- Initially align the lead screw and structure before fitting the coupler.
- Secure each half to the corresponding component without locking the Oldham sliding movement.
- Manually check the entire travel for binding or collisions.
- Do not use it to hide severe misalignment or a visibly bent lead screw.
