Sakata 3D ABS-E Transition filament, 1.75 mm and 1 kg, made in Spain between two colour production runs. It retains the technical and dimensional specifications of the ABS-E family but does not match a fixed colour reference: the colour and its variation are random. This product is one spool, not a multipack.

Important colour information: a spool may show a strong change, a subtle one or several intermediate shades. Starting and finishing colours, the length of each section and whether a particular print will show a colour change are not guaranteed. Photographs are illustrative and may not represent the spool supplied.

You may leave a colour preference in the order notes. We will try to accommodate it according to available spools, but we cannot guarantee a particular colour or combination.

What Sakata 3D ABS-E Transition offers

ABS-E is a filament developed by the Spanish brand Sakata 3D for FDM/FFF printing. Compared with conventional ABS, the manufacturer highlights its ductility, interlayer adhesion and reduced tendency to warp or crack. It remains an ABS-family material: bed adhesion, a stable thermal environment and room ventilation still matter, especially for large parts.

The colour variation comes from the change between two colour production runs. It does not mean the filament is recycled or belongs to a different material family; the declared difference is chromatic. Choose a fixed-colour product when repeatability between parts or spools is required.

Getting started with printing

As a starting point with a 0.4 mm nozzle, try 235–250 °C at the hotend and a bed around 90–100 °C. Start with no or low part cooling, moderate speed and an ABS/ABS-E profile; refine it using a first-layer test and temperature tower. The supplied spool label and your printer's limits take precedence over a general profile.

  • Enclosure: a closed printer or thermally stable environment is preferable. Avoid draughts across the print.
  • Build surface: glass or PEI with a suitable adhesive can support first-layer adhesion and part removal. Follow your surface instructions; a 3D-printing adhesive may help when appropriate.
  • Geometry: a brim, rounded corners and a well-adjusted first layer help reduce lifting. Larger parts need more attention to shrinkage.
  • Speed: start below roughly 90 mm/s and increase only after checking hotend flow, layer bonding and part stability. Newer ABS-E documentation includes high-speed profiles, but they should not be applied automatically to every spool or machine.
  • Moisture: keep the spool sealed with desiccant. If you notice popping, bubbles or an uneven surface, check the ABS-E drying guidance and the spool's heat resistance before applying heat.

Printer and feeder compatibility

Designed for 1.75 mm FDM/FFF printers able to reach the required nozzle and bed temperatures. It can be printed on an appropriately configured HTA3D HPRO, Voron 2.4/Trident or Bambu Lab P1S/X1 Carbon with a suitable ABS profile, build surface and room ventilation. These are conditional examples, not a universal profile or a guarantee for every revision and assembly.

On an open printer such as a Creality Ender 3 without an enclosure, the environment requires more control and large parts are especially prone to warping. Check the hotend's actual temperature rating and keep electronics within safe temperatures if adding an enclosure.

Check spool fit before using automatic feeders: the declared spool width is 100 mm. Matching filament diameter does not guarantee that it will fit or turn freely in an AMS, AMS Lite, MMU or another closed feeder. Use a compatible external spool holder if necessary.

Making the most of the colour transition

Large prints consume more filament and have a better chance of reaching different parts of the spool, but a colour change is never guaranteed. Small parts may remain one shade. The change cannot be assigned to a precise layer, and two spools need not continue the same colour sequence. It suits unique objects or series where variation is welcome, not colour-matched replacements.

Is it for you?

It is for you if you want Spanish-made Sakata 3D ABS-E and welcome unpredictable colour in functional or creative prints.

It is not for you if you need an exact shade, repeatable colour between spools, a predictable colour-change point or large ABS parts without control of temperature, adhesion and ventilation.

Other options

If stable colour matters more than a surprise effect, see Sakata 3D 1.75 mm ABS and check its choices and settings: it is a separate product, not an automatically identical replacement. For outdoor applications, Sakata 3D ASA may be more suitable, with its own printing profile.

Contents: one 1 kg net spool of Sakata 3D ABS-E Transition, 1.75 mm diameter. Print with air renewal in the workspace; the material is not certified for food contact or medical applications.
