Sakata 3D PLA Texture Wood is a 1.75 mm filament manufactured in Spain by Polimersia Global S.L. It combines a PLA polymer matrix with natural wood fibres to give printed parts a texture, colour and feel closer to real wood than conventional PLA.
It is intended for decorative objects, models, figures, miniature furniture, prototypes and parts where appearance is particularly important. A characteristic wood-like smell may be noticeable during printing, although the workspace should always have suitable general ventilation.
Made in Spain by Sakata 3D
This filament is manufactured in Spain by Polimersia Global S.L., the manufacturer of Sakata 3D Filaments. The technical documentation specifies a renewable-origin carbon content greater than 75%.
This figure does not mean that the filament contains 75% wood. It refers to the renewable-origin carbon present in the complete formulation.
Available colours and spool sizes
The range is available in 450 g and 1 kg spools, in the following colours:
- Oak Wood: warm colour inspired by natural oak.
- Maple Wood: light, natural maple-like finish.
- White Wood: pale colour suitable for decorative parts and additional finishing.
- Olive Green: combines a wood-like texture with an olive-green colour.
As it contains natural fibres, slight variations in colour and texture may occur between spools and production batches. These variations are part of the material's characteristic appearance.

These values are starting points. A small temperature and flow test is advisable before producing large or long-duration prints.
3D printer compatibility
Its 1.75 mm diameter and support for a 0.4 mm nozzle make it suitable for many open-material FDM/FFF printers, including:
- HTA3D HPRO printers and RepRap or Prusa i3-derived designs.
- Prusa MK3, MK4 and equivalent models configured for 1.75 mm filament.
- Creality Ender 3, Ender 5, CR-10 and similar machines.
- Anycubic Kobra and other open-material printers.
- Direct-drive and Bowden extruders with a clean filament path and no excessively tight bends.
These references indicate typical dimensional and thermal compatibility, not a universal profile. Check the filament diameter, installed nozzle, available temperature range and the restrictions specified by the printer manufacturer. Dedicated instructions must be followed when using automatic material-loading or storage systems.
Nozzle compatibility and wear
Sakata 3D describes this formulation as a good-flow, low-abrasion material that can be printed through a 0.4 mm nozzle. This allows it to be used with many standard hotends without necessarily fitting a larger nozzle.
However, any particle-filled filament may leave more residue and cause more wear than an unfilled PLA during extended use. The nozzle should be clean, in good condition and correctly tightened.
Creating a wood-like finish
- Use visible layer lines and geometry that complements the material's texture.
- Test small temperature variations within the current 190-220 °C range to alter the colour slightly.
- Do not exceed the range confirmed for the spool solely to darken the part.
- Avoid excessive print speed when a consistent surface is required.
- The finished part may be lightly sanded to enhance the wood-like appearance; test an inconspicuous area first.
Storage and loading
Natural fibres may encourage moisture absorption. Store the spool in its sealed bag with desiccant when it is not being used.
Popping sounds, bubbles, excessive stringing or an unusually rough surface may indicate absorbed moisture and should be investigated before changing other print settings.
A clean filament tip can be prepared before loading with a PLATO 170 flush cutter.
