GT2 16-tooth idler pulley with an integrated bearing, designed to guide or tension 6 mm GT2 timing belts in 3D printers, CNC machines and other linear motion systems.
As this is a toothed pulley, it should run against the toothed side of the belt. Its side flanges help keep the belt within the running area when the complete assembly is correctly aligned.
Features
- Type: toothed idler pulley with bearing.
- Profile: GT2 / 2GT, 2 mm pitch.
- Number of teeth: 16.
- Compatible belt width: 6 mm.
- Bearing inner diameter: 3 mm.
- Nominal mounting: 3 mm axle or screw, usually M3.
- Body material: aluminium.
- Bearing: integrated.
- Side flanges: yes.
16-tooth format
The 16-tooth format provides a compact belt path and can be useful where installation space is limited. Compared with a 20-tooth pulley, it bends the belt around a smaller radius. One size should therefore not be substituted for another without checking the belt path, tensioner position and available belt length.
Installation
The screw should secure the assembly through the bearing inner race without pressing against the flanges or preventing the pulley from rotating. Use the spacers or washers required by the bracket and check that the pulley rotates freely after tightening.
The belt should remain centred and parallel to the other pulleys. Misalignment can cause it to rub against the flanges, generate noise or wear prematurely.
Compatibility
It is compatible with our 6 mm fibreglass-reinforced GT2 timing belt and 6 mm wear-resistant coated GT2 belt.
This type of assembly can be found in some RepRap and Prusa i3-derived designs using an M3 screw as the pulley axle, but compatibility should not be assumed. Check that the design specifies a 16-tooth idler, 6 mm belt and 3 mm bore.
This is not a motor drive pulley, as its bearing allows the body to rotate freely. It is also not a direct replacement for a smooth idler. When the back of the belt contacts the pulley, use the equivalent smooth 16T idler with a 3 mm bore.
