This high-power switching power supply converts mains voltage into a regulated 12 V DC output. Its nominal 33 A capacity can power 12 V 3D printers, light CNC machines and other systems using heated beds, multiple hotends, motors, fans and control electronics, provided that the total load remains within the limits of the power supply and installation.

It features a ventilated metal enclosure, active fan cooling and multiple output terminals for power distribution. Its commercial power rating is 400 W, corresponding to approximately 396 W when calculated as 12 V × 33 A.

Electrical specifications

  • Output voltage: 12 V DC.
  • Maximum nominal output current: 33 A.
  • Commercial power rating: 400 W.
  • Calculated power at 12 V and 33 A: approximately 396 W.
  • Selectable input: 100–120 V AC or 200–240 V AC.
  • Input current shown on the label: 6.5 A at 100–120 V AC and 4 A at 200–240 V AC.
  • Three positive V+ terminals and three negative V− terminals.
  • Separate live, neutral and protective-earth terminals.
  • Fine output-voltage adjustment through the V ADJ potentiometer.
  • Active fan cooling.

Declared protection features

  • Short-circuit protection.
  • Overload protection.
  • Overvoltage protection.
  • Overtemperature protection.
  • EMI filter for reducing electromagnetic interference.
  • Full-load operating test declared by the manufacturer.

Applications

  • 3D printers operating entirely at 12 V.
  • Configurations with a heated bed and one or more hotends.
  • Light CNC machines and 12 V automation systems.
  • Electronic projects requiring a high-current 12 V power supply.

Compatibility and power calculation

Before installation, confirm that the controller, heated bed, heater cartridges, fans and all other components operate at 12 V. This power supply is not suitable for equipment configured exclusively for 24 V, 36 V or 48 V.

The 33 A rating is the maximum nominal output capacity, not a recommended continuous load. Correct sizing requires adding the consumption of the heated bed, heater cartridges, motors, electronics, fans and accessories while leaving reasonable headroom for startup peaks and continuous operation.

The availability of 33 A from the power supply does not mean that the controller board can safely carry this current. Check the ratings of its connectors, PCB tracks, fuses and MOSFETs. High-current loads may require heavier wiring, suitable terminals or an external MOSFET module.

Connections

  • L: mains live input.
  • N: mains neutral input.
  • Earth: mandatory connection to the metal enclosure and protective conductor.
  • V+: positive 12 V outputs.
  • V−: negative 12 V outputs.

The V+ terminals are internally connected to each other, as are the V− terminals. Multiple terminals make power distribution easier, but they are not independent outputs and do not increase the total available power.

Installation safety

  • Select 115 V or 230 V according to the local mains voltage before connecting the power supply.
  • An incorrect voltage selection may damage the power supply and connected equipment.
  • The installation is connected directly to mains voltage and must be completed by a person with suitable electrical knowledge.
  • Always connect the protective-earth terminal to the metal enclosure.
  • Cover the terminals to prevent accidental contact.
  • Use wiring, terminals, switches and input protection rated for the expected current.
  • Install the power supply in a dry and ventilated location protected from metal objects and debris.
  • Do not obstruct the air vents or cooling fan.
  • Disconnect mains power before handling the wiring and allow the internal capacitors time to discharge.

Accessories and alternatives

The mains input can be prepared using the power inlet with switch for power supplies. For installations using a RAMPS controller, see the 12 AWG cable for connecting a power supply to RAMPS.

If the equipment operates at 24 V, see the compact 24 V, 15 A and 360 W power supply. A 12 V power supply cannot be replaced by a 24 V model without checking and adapting every component in the system.

EQUIPMENT START UP:

  1. Check that the mains voltage matches the input selected for the source (110/220v)
  2. Connect the power supply to the mains to check the output voltage (12/24v)
  3. The output voltage is adjustable, if it differs from the one you want for your application you can turn the regulator, preferably with the equipment off. Never use a metal screwdriver with the equipment on to make this adjustment.
  4. (Depending on the model) This power supply has a regulated fan, it will turn when it has load, check periodically and in the first use that the fan is activated correctly.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS COMPACT POWER SUPPLY:

  • Dimension the installation correctly, with an appropriate safety factor.
  • Never block or hinder the fan's air output.
  • Before connecting the equipment to the power supply, check that the available mains voltage corresponds to the voltage value of the equipment.
  • Connect the mains cable of the equipment to a grounded power outlet.
  • Do not place the equipment on wet or damp surfaces.
  • Do not expose the equipment to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
  • Do not expose the equipment to moisture.
  • Do not exceed the maximum input voltage allowed.
  • Comply with the warning and information labels on the equipment.
  • Wear dry clothes and rubber shoes to ensure insulation.
  • Do not insert metal objects into the equipment through the ventilation slots.
  • Do not place containers full of liquids on the equipment (danger of short circuit in case of shock).
  • Do not use the equipment near strong magnetic fields (motors, transformers, etc.).
  • Do not expose the equipment to strong shocks or vibrations.
  • Allow the unit to stabilize at room temperature before taking measurements (important for accurate measurement).
  • Do not modify the equipment in any way.
  • The equipment must be opened for service or repair by qualified personnel. It is recommended that repair work be carried out in the presence of a second person trained to perform first aid if necessary.
  • Keep the power source away from children.
  • Before cleaning the box, pull out the plug from the socket. Clean only with mild household cleaner. Make sure that no water gets inside the equipment to avoid possible short circuits and damage to the equipment.
