400 × 400 × 8 mm machined cast aluminium plate, designed by HTA3D for large-format 3D-printer beds. Its 8 mm thickness provides a robust structure and substantial thermal mass on which to install the heater and print surface required by the project.

This is not a complete heated bed: the supplied component is the machined plate with four M4 countersinks and four auxiliary M3 threads. The remaining system is selected separately.

Dimensions and machining

Outside dimensions400 × 400 mm
Nominal thickness8 mm
CornersR2 outside radius
Main mounting4 × Ø4.2 mm through holes, countersunk for M4 screws
Hole-centre pattern390 × 390 mm
Auxiliary threads4 × M3 × 0.5 - 6H along one edge
MaterialMachined cast aluminium

The M3 threads are symmetrically arranged with consecutive spacing of 40, 80 and 40 mm. Their function depends on the chosen integration; the drawing does not assign them to a particular accessory.

The 350 × 350 mm, 220 V, 750 W adhesive silicone heater is a suitable heating option. Its nominal 25 mm margin on each side leaves room for mounting and wiring, but its final position must be planned before removing the adhesive liner.

For the top surface, choose the 400 × 400 mm borosilicate glass plate or build a magnetic bed using the cut-to-size adhesive magnetic sheet. The 410 × 410 mm textured PEI flex plate nominally extends 5 mm beyond each side of this base; confirm that the frame and retention components allow this margin.

Assembly and calibration

On a large-format plate, first-layer performance depends on the base, frame, supports and temperature. Check its geometry after transport and again after installation, both cold and at normal operating temperature.

  • Do not attempt to correct a deviation by pulling the plate with its screws.
  • Tighten supports progressively and in accordance with the machine design.
  • Allow for thermal expansion and heater-cable motion.
  • Mechanically tram the bed before generating a mesh.
  • Use mesh compensation for the first layer within the machine's limits, not as a replacement for an aligned frame.
  • Size the Z system or moving kinematics for the complete assembly mass.

The silicone spacers with Ø4 mm passage can be used in compatible M4 assemblies. The adhesive thermal insulator helps reduce losses below the bed when fitted without covering connections or safety devices.

Heating control and safety

Aluminium spreads the heat it receives, but actual uniformity also depends on heater coverage, adhesive contact, insulation, sensor location and ambient conditions. Commission gradually under supervision, measure several points and tune thermal control after final assembly.

220 V warning: a mains heater requires installation by a qualified person, protective earth on the plate, a suitable SSR or contactor, RCD and overcurrent protection, an independent thermal fuse, insulated connections and cable strain relief.

Compatibility

Designed for HTA3D HPRO projects and custom machines that accept its dimensions. It is not a universal replacement for every printer advertised as 400 mm: outside size, 390 × 390 mm M4 pattern, travel, height, cable position and load capacity must all match. Voron, RatRig and other platforms may use different patterns even when nominal build volume is similar.

It is for you if

  • You are designing a large-format bed and want to choose the heater and surface separately.
  • Your frame accepts 400 × 400 mm and the stated mounting pattern.
  • You can assemble, measure and calibrate the complete system.

It is not for you if

  • You need a finished, ready-to-connect heated bed.
  • Your machine requires another hole pattern or cannot carry an 8 mm plate.
  • You require a certified flatness tolerance for metrology.

Contents

  • 1 × HTA3D 400 × 400 × 8 mm machined cast aluminium plate.

Heater, sensor, magnet, flex plate, glass, insulation, screws and spacers are not included. The drawing, DWG and STEP are available in the official HPRO CAD files.
