220 × 280mm, 12V MK3 ALU heated bed providing a longer build platform while retaining a declared 209mm corner-hole pattern dimensionally compatible with many RepRap carriages designed around 214 × 214 or 220 × 220mm beds.

The plate has a 3mm aluminium core, four corner holes, one centre hole on each long side, and separate power and NTC pads. The front centre hole supports three-point mounting when the carriage provides the matching fixing point.

Power and wiring

This revision has no declared power rating. Measure cold resistance before selecting the supply, fuse or MOSFET, then calculate I = 12 / R and P = 144 / R. Also verify that there is no continuity between the heater circuit and aluminium face.

The side pads separate power and sensor connections. Use correctly sized flexible wire, fully wetted solder joints and independent strain relief. A wired 100K B3950 NTC can be installed when the input and firmware match. If the bed output cannot handle the calculated current with margin, use a 12/24V external MOSFET.

Three- or four-point mounting

The 209mm pattern allows this bed to be considered for carriages used with 214 or 220mm plates, but matching spacing does not prove that the carriage can accept 280mm length. Check Y travel, frame clearances, harness exit and moving mass.

A three-point installation uses two fixings on one side and the centre position on the opposite side; the carriage must provide those exact supports. Never bend the plate to align holes or overtighten it until the aluminium distorts.

Firmware and thermal protection

Configure the actual sensor curve and verify a plausible room-temperature reading before enabling power. Keep failed-heating and thermal-runaway protection active. With the final assembly, tune the bed using M303 E-1 C8 S60 in Marlin, PID_CALIBRATE HEATER=heater_bed TARGET=60 in Klipper, or M303 H0 S60 in RepRapFirmware when the bed is heater 0.

Perform the first test at a low setpoint under continuous supervision, checking pads, wires, terminals and the power stage for abnormal temperature.

Compatibility

The 220 × 280mm format is found on Tevo Tarantula and other RepRap projects, but this association does not prove direct replacement. Verify the 209mm pattern, travel, 12V supply, calculated current, sensor, connectors and firmware for the exact revision.

A cut-to-fit lower thermal insulator can reduce losses without covering pads or the sensor. When adding glass or another surface, verify its exact size, mass, retention and effect on travel and thermal control.
