This PTFE guide tube has nominal dimensions of 4 mm outer diameter and 3 mm inner diameter. Its wide internal passage makes it suitable as a low-restriction filament guide, particularly between a spool or dry box and the extruder.
It can be used with 1.75 mm filament when a generous clearance is required, although it does not provide the confinement of a conventional 4 × 2 mm Bowden tube. It may also accept certain filaments sold as 2.85 or 3 mm, but compatibility must be confirmed by measuring the actual filament.
Main features
- Material: low-friction PTFE.
- Nominal outer diameter: 4 mm.
- Nominal inner diameter: 3 mm.
- Generous clearance for 1.75 mm filament.
- Possible use with 2.85 mm filament when its actual diameter and tolerances allow free movement.
- Compatible with fittings designed for 4 mm outer-diameter tubing.
- Sold by the metre, with continuous lengths of up to 25 metres.

Compatibility with 1.75 mm filament
1.75 mm filament can travel through this tube with generous clearance. This makes it useful as a low-restriction guide, but also allows considerable lateral movement. It is not the preferred option for a long Bowden transmission where precise retraction response is required.
For a more confined path, consider the 4 × 2.5 mm PTFE tube or the 4 × 2 mm PTFE tube.
Compatibility with 2.85 or 3 mm filament
A filament's commercial designation does not guarantee its actual diameter. Filament measuring 3.00 mm has no nominal clearance inside a 3 mm bore, so compatibility must not be assumed.
Before using this tube with 2.85 or 3 mm filament, measure the material at several points and verify that it moves freely through the tube, fittings and bends. Filament ovality and dimensional tolerances must also be considered.
For 3.00 mm filament, the safer catalogue alternative is the 6 × 4 mm PTFE tube for 3 mm filament, provided that the system accepts a 6 mm outer diameter.
Installation and handling
Due to its nominal 0.5 mm wall thickness, crushing, tight bends and excessive fitting pressure should be avoided. A deformed tube can reduce the internal passage and obstruct the filament.
Fittings must be designed for 4 mm outer-diameter tubing. Their thread and through-hole or internal-stop design must be checked separately.
Supply information
The price corresponds to 1 metre. When several units are ordered, a single continuous length will be supplied whenever possible. The maximum available length in one piece is 25 metres.
The PTFE grade and maximum operating temperature are not specified. Suitability as a liner inside a hotend's heated zone must therefore not be assumed.
