WINKLE transparent 1.75 mm PETG Prototype is intended for visual and functional prototypes where partial internal visibility, light transmission or diffusion are useful while retaining the toughness and printability associated with PETG. It is made in Spain and supplied on a 1 kg spool.

Translucent result: an FDM part is rarely optically clear. Thickness, walls, layers, orientation, flow and temperature determine final visibility. Print a sample before designing a finished window or diffuser.

1 kg spool of WINKLE transparent 1.75 mm PETG Prototype filament

Recommended applications

  • Housings and covers with partial internal visibility.
  • Concept prototypes, assembly checks and shape validation.
  • Diffusers, light guides and parts for 3D-printed LED lamps.
  • Demonstration vessels or ducts where viewing flow is useful.
  • Models requiring a glossy, translucent finish.

It should not be treated as glass, lens material or a certified inspection barrier. Watertightness must not be assumed either: it depends on walls, flow, orientation, geometry and post-processing.

Improving light transmission

  1. Use continuous walls and minimise internal interfaces.
  2. Tune flow to avoid gaps between lines without over-extrusion.
  3. Test wider lines and layer heights that maintain consistent extrusion.
  4. Reduce speed if the finish shows voids, irregularities or loss of gloss.
  5. Compare orientations, as layer lines scatter light differently.

Settings that improve optical appearance may reduce dimensional accuracy or detail. If structure is the main goal, compare with standard WINKLE PETG; for translucent colours, see WINKLE Krystal PETG.

Compatibility

Can be profiled on 1.75 mm FDM/FFF printers with a heated bed, including HTA3D HPRO, Creality Ender 3, Prusa MK3/MK4, Bambu Lab A1/P1/X1 and Voron, when the exact configuration supports PETG. WINKLE lists AMS; check spool, adapter and path before a long print.

This is for you if

  • You need partial visibility, light diffusion or a translucent prototype.
  • You want to validate forms and assemblies with an economical 1 kg PETG.
  • You can tune model and profile for the desired optical result.

This is not for you if

  • You expect optical clarity, lens quality or undistorted viewing.
  • You require a certified mechanical or thermal property for the final part.
  • You need an opaque colour or carbon fibre.
