Kapton-type polyimide adhesive tape measuring 10mm wide and 33 metres long, intended for electrical insulation, thermal protection and masking in 3D printing, electronics and BGA or SMD soldering and rework processes.
It consists of a polyimide film with a silicone adhesive. It withstands temperatures of up to 280°C and provides a versatile width for protecting components, connections and defined areas without occupying as much space as wider variants.
Main features
- Backing material: polyimide film.
- Adhesive: silicone.
- Nominal width: 10mm.
- Length: 33 metres.
- Specified heat resistance: up to 280°C.
- Good electrical-insulation properties.
- Versatile width for electronics and 3D printing.
- Clean removal from most suitable surfaces under normal conditions of use.
Typical applications
- Protecting components during hot-air soldering.
- Masking during BGA and SMD rework.
- Insulating connections, terminals and small circuits.
- Auxiliary securing of thermistors and temperature sensors.
- Organising and holding wiring.
- Servicing hotends, heated beds and electronic equipment.
- Localised heat protection in technical projects.
Benefits of the 10mm width
The 10mm size balances precision and coverage. It is narrow enough to work around components and connectors while covering connections or sensors with fewer strips than the 5mm variant.
Use in 3D printers
It can be used as auxiliary electrical insulation, to organise wiring or to help secure sensors to heated components. It is also useful during hotend and heated-bed repairs or modifications.
The tape does not replace a correctly insulated electrical connection or a mechanical retention system designed for the component. For temperature sensors, make sure that the mounting remains stable and that the sensor is actually measuring the heated element.
Application recommendations
- Apply to clean, dry and grease-free surfaces.
- Avoid folds, bubbles and areas without contact.
- Do not excessively stretch the tape during application.
- Check adhesion after the first thermal cycles.
- Replace it if it lifts, tears or shows degradation.
- Also respect the temperature limit of the protected component.
The stated resistance of up to 280°C refers to the tape’s thermal specification. Exposure duration, surface material and mechanical load may affect adhesive performance.
