Y-splitter cable designed to connect two two-wire fans to a single output. It distributes the power received through the input connector to two parallel branches, simplifying the wiring of dual-fan cooling systems.

It is useful in 3D printers, CNC machines and electronics enclosures fitted with two fans of the same voltage that need to be activated or controlled together.

Main features

  • Configuration: one input connector and two output connectors.
  • 2-pin XH connectors.
  • Red and black two-wire construction.
  • Parallel electrical connection for both fans.
  • Approximate length of the longer branch: 110mm.
  • Approximate length of the second branch: 90mm.
  • Contents: 1 Y-splitter cable.

Electrical operation

Both fans receive the same voltage supplied by the output. The current demanded from the electronics will be approximately the sum of the consumption of both fans.

For example, two 0.10A fans connected in parallel may require approximately 0.20A during operation, plus a suitable margin for start-up. Check the maximum current supported by the controller output, MOSFET module or power supply before using the splitter.

Compatibility

It is intended for two-wire fans using mechanically and electrically compatible 2-pin XH connectors. Both fans must use the same rated voltage as the output. A 12V fan and a 24V fan, for example, must not be combined on the same splitter.

The adapter does not convert voltage, limit current or allow the fans to be controlled independently. If the output is regulated, both fans receive the same power-control signal.

It does not add separate tachometer or PWM connections and therefore cannot replace an adapter specifically designed for three- or four-wire fans.

If a longer connection to the controller is required, consider the GDSTIME 1m 2-pin XH2.54 fan extension cable, after checking connector correspondence and polarity.

Checks before installation

  • Verify that both fans have the same rated voltage.
  • Add their rated currents and allow a suitable start-up margin.
  • Ensure that the electronic output can support the total current.
  • Check the polarity of all three connectors.
  • Do not rely solely on wire colours or mechanically matching housings.
  • Perform a supervised initial test before leaving the system in continuous operation.
