- Stock: 537
- Model: V6-fan-support
Fan mount and air duct designed to install a 30 × 30 × 10 mm 3010 axial fan on a V6-style hotend heatsink. The part clips around the side of the heatsink fins and directs the fan's airflow through them.
It is manufactured from black injection-moulded plastic. Its clip-on installation allows the fan assembly to be removed for maintenance without completely disassembling the hotend.
Main features
- Type: hotend cooling fan mount and air duct.
- Designed for 3010 axial fans.
- Nominal fan dimensions: 30 × 30 × 10 mm.
- Four fan mounting holes.
- Side-mounted clip for attachment around the heatsink.
- Manufactured from black injection-moulded plastic.
- Directs airflow towards the heatsink fins.
Function within the hotend
The fan installed in this duct cools the cold side of the hotend. Its purpose is to keep the heatsink sufficiently cool and reduce heat transfer towards the filament inlet.
This fan does not replace the part-cooling system. The heatsink fan and the fan directing air towards the printed object perform different functions and may require different electrical and firmware configurations.
V6 hotend compatibility
It is designed for cylindrical finned heatsinks with V6-style external geometry. It may be used in systems based on this ecosystem when the heatsink diameter, fin position and available surrounding space allow the clip to close correctly.
Compatibility must not be assumed for every product advertised as “V6”. Some hotends only share the nozzle thread, heater block or mounting system but use a heatsink with different external geometry.
Before using it as a replacement, check:
- The shape and outside diameter of the heatsink.
- The position of the fins used by the retaining clip.
- The available space around the hotend.
- The required fan-cable orientation.
- Possible interference with the carriage, extruder or bed-levelling probe.
Compatible fans from our catalogue
The mount accepts 3010-format fans. Voltage and bearing type must be selected according to the machine electronics, intended use and operating conditions:
- 3010 12V axial fan with 1-metre cable.
- 3010 24V axial fan with 1-metre cable.
- 3010 12V ball-bearing axial fan.
- 3010 24V ball-bearing axial fan.
A 12V fan must not be connected directly to a 24V output. Likewise, a 24V fan connected to a 12V output may fail to start reliably or provide the airflow required by the hotend.
Installation and airflow direction
- Attach the 3010 fan using screws suitable for its mounting holes and the plastic duct.
- Orient the fan so that it blows air towards the heatsink. In the usual V6 arrangement, the label and motor-support side face the heatsink.
- Clip the duct sideways over the heatsink fins without opening or deforming it more than necessary.
- Check that the clip is secure and cannot move due to machine vibration.
- Turn the blades manually before applying power to ensure that they do not rub against the duct.
- Route the cable so that it cannot touch the heater block, nozzle or other hot components.
Usage recommendations
- Do not operate the hotend at high temperature without adequate heatsink cooling.
- Periodically remove dust and filament debris from the air duct.
- Check that the fan starts reliably and maintains consistent airflow.
- Do not force the clip onto a heatsink with incompatible geometry or diameter.
- Check the controller configuration so that the fan remains active whenever the hotend requires cooling.
