Kapton-type polyimide adhesive tape measuring 20mm wide and 33 metres long. It is designed to provide electrical insulation, masking and thermal protection during electronics, 3D printing, soldering and BGA or SMD component-rework tasks.
Its polyimide film and silicone adhesive withstand temperatures of up to 280°C. The 20mm width covers sensors, connectors and medium-sized areas with fewer joints and overlaps than narrower variants.
Main features
- Backing material: polyimide film.
- Adhesive: silicone.
- Nominal width: 20mm.
- Length: 33 metres.
- Specified heat resistance: up to 280°C.
- Good electrical-insulation properties.
- Suitable width for covering medium-sized areas.
- Clean removal from most suitable surfaces under normal conditions of use.
Typical applications
- Masking during BGA or SMD soldering and rework.
- Protecting connectors and components near heat sources.
- Insulating electrical connections and joints.
- Auxiliary securing of thermistors and sensors.
- Organising and locally protecting wiring.
- Servicing hotends, heated beds and controller boards.
- Temporary thermal protection during repairs.
Benefits of the 20mm width
This size is intended for applications requiring more coverage without moving to the 30mm format. It can protect complete components or provide wider insulation with a single strip, reducing possible gaps between adjacent pieces.
Use in 3D printers
It may be used to insulate connections, help secure sensors, protect wiring near heated elements or perform maintenance tasks. Its width is also convenient for covering localised areas of a print bed when required by the printing system and material.
Before using it as an auxiliary printing surface, check material adhesion, bed temperature and tape condition. Joints, wrinkles or damage may be transferred to the first layer.
Application recommendations
- Thoroughly clean and dry the surface.
- Apply progressively to reduce bubbles and wrinkles.
- Press uniformly across the complete bonded area.
- Avoid unnecessary overlaps when a flat surface is required.
- Check adhesion after several thermal cycles.
- Replace the tape if it lifts, tears or loses adhesion.
The specified resistance of up to 280°C does not guarantee identical behaviour in every application. Exposure time, surface material, pressure and mechanical loads affect adhesive performance.
