30mm
Kapton-type polyimide adhesive tape measuring 30mm wide and 33 metres long. It provides electrical insulation, thermal protection and masking for 3D printing, electronics, soldering and BGA or SMD rework.
It is made from polyimide film with a silicone adhesive and has a specified heat resistance of up to 280°C. This is the widest variant in the family and covers larger areas with fewer strips, joints and overlaps.
Main features
- Backing material: polyimide film.
- Adhesive: silicone.
- Nominal width: 30mm.
- Length: 33 metres.
- Specified heat resistance: up to 280°C.
- Good electrical-insulation properties.
- Wide format for covering larger surfaces.
- Clean removal from most suitable surfaces under normal conditions of use.
Typical applications
- Protecting larger areas during hot-air soldering.
- Masking during BGA and SMD rework.
- Insulating groups of connections and components.
- Localised thermal protection of electronic boards.
- Auxiliary securing of sensors and wiring assemblies.
- Maintenance of 3D printers and electronic equipment.
- Preparing auxiliary heated-bed surfaces.
Benefits of the 30mm width
The 30mm width protects larger components and covers surfaces with fewer joints. It is particularly useful when a continuous barrier or a wider flat area is required.
Use on 3D-printer build plates
It may be applied in strips to certain printing surfaces to create a polyimide layer over the heated bed. Its 30mm width reduces the number of joints compared with narrower variants.
Suitability as a printing surface depends on the material, bed temperature and surface preparation. Apply the tape cleanly without wrinkles, bubbles or raised overlaps. Adhesion of every filament and compatibility with every build plate are not guaranteed.
Application recommendations
- Thoroughly clean and degrease the surface.
- Apply slowly from one end while progressively removing trapped air.
- Avoid touching the adhesive or creating bubbles.
- When several strips are required, align them carefully.
- Check adhesion after the first thermal cycles.
- Replace the tape if it becomes cut, lifted or degraded.
The stated resistance of up to 280°C refers to the tape’s thermal specification. Prolonged exposure, surface material and mechanical loads can affect adhesion and service life.
