Choosing the outlet diameter

  • A smaller outlet produces finer lines and greater detail, but requires clean material, good calibration and moderate speeds.
  • A larger outlet produces wider lines and may increase flow, provided that the hotend can melt the required volume.
  • The number engraved on the nozzle identifies its nominal outlet diameter; always check the selected variant before installation.

“For 3mm filament” describes the diameter of the material entering the hotend. It must not be confused with the much smaller nozzle outlet diameter, which is selected separately.

Compatibility

Intended for V5, V6 and derivative hotends specifically configured for 3mm filament, provided that the thread, overall length and sealing geometry match. Compatibility must not be assumed merely because the nozzle begins to screw into the heater block.

It is not a direct replacement for a nozzle designed for 1.75mm filament. Automatic equivalence with MK8, Volcano, Revo or other proprietary systems should also be avoided, even if one isolated dimension appears similar.

Installation

  1. Check that the nozzle matches both the filament diameter and hotend format.
  2. Screw it in gently without forcing it.
  3. Perform the final tightening according to the hotend procedure, normally while hot and while supporting the heater block to avoid stressing the heatbreak.
  4. The seal should be made against the heatbreak inside the block, rather than by tightening the hexagon fully against the outside face.
  5. Set the selected nozzle diameter in the slicer and reslice the models before printing.

After the first heating cycle, check for molten plastic leaking around the thread. Incorrect assembly can cause material to accumulate around the heater block.
