As this is a fixed-length closed belt, it is intended for mechanisms specifically designed around this size. It cannot be cut, joined or adjusted in the same way as an open-ended GT2 belt.

What does 188-2GT mean?
The 188-2GT marking indicates a 188 mm pitch length and a GT2 profile with a 2 mm tooth pitch. Dividing the pitch length by the tooth pitch gives the belt's 94 teeth:
188 mm ÷ 2 mm = 94 teeth.
The pitch length should not be confused with the belt diameter, pulley centre distance or an external measurement taken while the belt is lying flat.
Belt identification
The photograph shows the closed-loop belt and the 188-2GT marking printed on its outer surface.
Compatibility
Its profile is compatible with 2 mm-pitch GT2 pulleys designed for 6 mm belts, including the POWGE 16T drive pulley, POWGE 20T drive pulley and POWGE 20T toothed idler with a 5 mm bore.
Matching the profile and width alone does not guarantee compatibility with a mechanism. The 188 mm belt length, pulley tooth counts, centre distance and intended belt path must also match.
It should be treated as a direct replacement only when the original belt is marked 188-2GT or 2GT-188, or when the equipment manufacturer explicitly specifies a 188 mm, 94-tooth, 6 mm-wide closed GT2 belt.
It should not be replaced with an open-ended belt cut to 188 mm. An open belt requires fastening points and does not form an equivalent continuous loop.

Installation

Firmware and transmission ratio
Replacing a 188-2GT belt with another belt of the same size does not itself alter the Marlin, Klipper or RepRapFirmware configuration.
The transmission ratio and movement per revolution mainly depend on pulley tooth counts. If a pulley is replaced with one having a different tooth count, it may be necessary to recalculate steps per millimetre, rotation distance or the mechanism's gear ratio.
