Use in a belt reduction

When used as a driven pulley, calculate the ratio by dividing its 80 teeth by the number of teeth on the drive pulley:

• 20T drive + 80T driven: theoretical 4:1 reduction.
• 16T drive + 80T driven: theoretical 5:1 reduction.

A reduction decreases output speed and theoretically increases available torque and resolution. Actual performance depends on belt tension, bearings, bracket rigidity and mechanical losses.

Installation and compatibility

It is compatible with 6 mm GT2 belts, especially the 6 mm POWGE GT2 belt and 6 mm POWGE GT2 RF belt.

It can be paired with the POWGE 20T drive pulley for a 4:1 reduction or the POWGE 16T drive pulley for a 5:1 reduction.

Before installation, check the actual shaft diameter, the clearance required by an approximately 50.42 mm pulley and the alignment between both pulleys. Tension the belt without overloading the shafts or bearings.

Do not treat it as directly interchangeable with the Fresa 3D 80T GT2 pulley merely because tooth count, belt width and bore match. Hub geometry, overall width, flanges and required component quality must also be compared.

Firmware configuration

If used as a direct drive pulley, it would theoretically move 160 mm of belt per revolution. With a 1.8° motor and 16 microsteps, this would correspond to 20 steps/mm or rotation_distance: 160 in Klipper.

However, it will more commonly be used as a driven pulley. In that case:

• Marlin and RepRapFirmware: calculate the steps per unit using the complete reduction ratio.
• Klipper: the mechanical ratio can be represented by the appropriate configuration, for example 80:20 for a 4:1 reduction, where supported by the relevant section.

The final configuration also depends on the output mechanism: leadscrew, rotary axis, wheel, extruder or another system.
