The BIGTREETECH EBB36 CAN V1.2 is a printhead toolboard designed around 36 mm extruder stepper motors. It centralises the motor, heater, fan and sensor connections on the toolhead, reducing the number of wires running through the printer.

This version includes a MAX31865 interface for 2-wire or 4-wire PT100 and PT1000 RTD sensors. It also provides a separate TH0 input for 100K NTC thermistors or directly connected PT1000 sensors.

Temperature sensor compatibility

  • 2-wire or 4-wire PT100 and PT1000 sensors through the MAX31865 interface and DIP switches.
  • 100K NTC thermistor on TH0 with a 4.7 kΩ pull-up.
  • Direct PT1000 connection on TH0 using the jumper-selectable 2.2 kΩ pull-up.

Klipper must be configured with the correct MAX31865 sensor type, wire count, nominal resistance and reference resistance. The CS pin, SPI bus and remaining pinout must be taken from the configuration file for the exact board revision.

Compatibility and installation

The board can be integrated into custom printers and Klipper conversions, including Voron, Rat Rig or VzBot-based builds, provided a suitable mount, compatible power supply and correctly configured CAN or USB interface are available. It is not a plug-and-play replacement for any specific printer.

The 120 Ω resistor should only be enabled when the board is located at a physical end of the CAN network. Check the microcontroller fitted to the actual board before compiling firmware, as different revisions require different build settings.
