The BIGTREETECH EBB42 CAN V1.2 is a printhead toolboard designed for installation around 42 mm extruder stepper motors. It moves the extruder, heater, fan and sensor connections to the toolhead and communicates with Klipper through CAN BUS or USB.

This version does not include a MAX31865 interface. It supports 100K NTC thermistors or directly connected PT1000 sensors through the TH0 input.

Temperature input

  • 100K NTC thermistor with a 4.7 kΩ pull-up and no PT1000 jumper fitted.
  • Direct PT1000 connection using the jumper-selectable 2.2 kΩ pull-up.

The board cannot directly read a PT100 because this version does not include MAX31865. A suitable external interface must be added, or the EBB42 CAN with MAX31865 should be selected.

Compatibility

It can be fitted to custom printers and Klipper conversions, including Voron, Rat Rig or VzBot-based systems, when the toolhead provides a suitable mount for the EBB42 geometry. This does not imply plug-and-play compatibility with a particular printer.

Firmware must be compiled for the microcontroller and communication interface fitted to the actual board revision. The Klipper TH0 pin and temperature profile must also come from the documentation or sample configuration for that revision.

The 120 Ω CAN termination resistor should only be enabled when the EBB42 is located at a physical end of the bus.
