All-metal titanium heatbreak for building or repairing V6-style hotends. It has an M7 × 1 thread for the heatsink, an M6 × 1 thread for the heater block and a 2mm bore for 1.75mm filament.

As PTFE does not extend into the hot zone, it is suitable for all-metal assemblies. Titanium limits heat transfer towards the cold zone, while the polished internal finish provides a consistent filament path. Actual performance also depends on adequate cooling, correct assembly, temperature and retraction settings.

All-metal titanium heatbreak with M6 and M7 threads for a V6-style hotend

Main features

  • Single-piece titanium construction.
  • All-metal filament path for 1.75mm filament.
  • M7 × 1 thread on the cold heatsink side.
  • M6 × 1 thread on the hot heater-block side.
  • 4.2mm cold-side inlet for guiding PTFE tubing.
  • 2mm filament bore through the hot section.
  • Polished internal surface to reduce irregularities along the filament path.

Single-piece titanium or bimetal heatbreak

This heatbreak is machined entirely from titanium: it is not bimetal. Its low heat transfer helps separate the hot and cold zones, while its single-piece construction has no joint between dissimilar materials.

An M6/M7 bimetal heatbreak combines a titanium thermal bridge with a conductive copper section that quickly transfers heat reaching the cold end into the heatsink. It may suit assemblies seeking a more concentrated thermal transition, but it still requires effective cooling. Neither design is universally better for every hotend and material.

Compatible heater blocks and heatsinks

The M6 end can be paired with blocks sharing the same thread and sealing geometry, such as the V6 heater block for a thermistor, the V6 block for 3mm encapsulated sensors or the Brass V6 block for 3mm sensors.

The M7 × 1 thread can be installed in the V6 Bowden heatsink with PTFE tube guide or the compact V6 heatsink with integrated fitting.

Conditional compatibility: sharing M6/M7 threads or the V6 label does not by itself guarantee compatibility. Check the 21.9mm length, the nozzle-to-heatbreak sealing interface, available space and the complete hotend geometry. It does not fit heatsinks that clamp a smooth 7mm heatbreak instead of using an M7 thread.

Assembly and commissioning

  1. Install the long M7 end in the heatsink and the short M6 end in the heater block.
  2. Thread the nozzle so that its rear face seals against the heatbreak inside the block. A small gap should remain between the nozzle hex and the block; tightening it against the block can leave an internal leak path.
  3. Hold the heater block during tightening to avoid applying torque to the narrow thermal neck.
  4. Perform final hot tightening according to the procedure and limits of the installed nozzle, block and sensor.
  5. If compatible thermal paste is used, apply it only to the cold section entering the heatsink, never to the hot thread or nozzle sealing face.
  6. Keep the heatsink fan running while the hotend is hot, then review extrusion, retraction and thermal calibration after the change.

The heatbreak does not require a dedicated setting in Marlin, Klipper or RepRapFirmware. It also does not determine maximum temperature by itself: observe the lowest limit among the heater block, nozzle, sensor, heater cartridge, heatsink and the remaining toolhead components.

This is for you if

  • You are building an all-metal V6-style hotend with an M6 block and M7 heatsink.
  • You need a single-piece titanium heatbreak for 1.75mm filament.
  • You can verify dimensions and tune cooling and retraction after installation.

This is not for you if

  • Your heatsink uses a smooth 7mm heatbreak or a thread other than M7 × 1.
  • You need a drop-in replacement for a proprietary hotend without comparing its geometry.
  • You prefer a PTFE-lined hot zone for operation primarily at moderate temperatures.

Package contents: 1 M6/M7 all-metal titanium heatbreak. Heater block, heatsink, nozzle and PTFE tube are not included.
