100K NTC Beta 3950 hotend thermistor protected by a 3 mm cylindrical 304 stainless-steel capsule. The encapsulation provides a more robust installation than an exposed bead thermistor and fits heater blocks designed for sensors of this diameter.

Mechanical compatibility
It is dimensionally compatible with housings for 3 mm encapsulated sensors. It may be combined with the V6 Heater Block for 3 mm Encapsulated Sensors, M6 Thread or the Brass V6 Heater Block for 3 mm Encapsulated Sensors, M6 Thread, after also checking housing depth and the retaining system.
Mechanical compatibility does not guarantee electrical compatibility. The controller and firmware must support a 100K Beta 3950 NTC thermistor.
Firmware configuration
- Marlin 2.1.x: type 11 with a 4.7 kΩ input, or type 1000 with the actual sensor values. Marlin must be compiled and installed.
- Klipper: sensor_type: Generic 3950, using the correct sensor pin and board pull-up.
- RepRapFirmware 3: define the sensor with M308 as a T100000 B3950 thermistor.
Marlin table 1 is not the recommended option for this Beta 3950 sensor because it uses a different curve. A correct ambient reading does not prove that the deviation will remain acceptable at hotend temperatures.
Temperature limit and installation
350 °C is the declared product maximum, but the safe installation limit also depends on the cable, connector, insulation, heater block and firmware configuration. Check the cold reading and monitor a progressive heating test before operating at elevated temperatures.
