Set of four metric hex drivers in 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm sizes. Their straight-handle format is convenient for assembling, adjusting and maintaining 3D printers, RC models, small mechanisms, electronics enclosures and DIY projects that use internal-hex fasteners.
Each tool has a straight hex tip, a long shaft and a knurled metal handle marked with its size for quick identification.
Included sizes
| Tip | Typical application |
|---|---|
| 1.5 mm | Small fasteners and grub screws with a 1.5 mm internal hex |
| 2.0 mm | Fasteners with a 2 mm internal hex socket |
| 2.5 mm | Common size for M3 DIN 912 / ISO 4762 socket-head cap screws |
| 3.0 mm | Common size for M4 DIN 912 / ISO 4762 socket-head cap screws |
Thread size and hex-key size are not the same specification. The M3 and M4 associations above apply to socket-head cap screws made to those standards; grub, button-head and countersunk screws may use a different driver despite having the same thread.
Straight tips for full engagement
The straight geometry allows all six faces of the tool to engage when the tip is fully inserted into an undamaged socket. Unlike a ball-end driver, it is intended to work in line with the screw axis, not at an angle.
The long shafts help reach screws located between profiles, enclosures or machine parts when sufficient axial access is available.
Selecting the correct size
- Clean the socket to remove plastic, dirt or thread-locking compound.
- Select the tip that enters fully without noticeable play or force.
- Keep the driver straight while loosening or tightening.
- If the socket is already damaged, do not increase force; remove the load and use a suitable extraction method.
Do not use the next smaller size merely because it appears to fit. Contact will be concentrated on the edges and may round both the fastener and the tool.
Use and precautions
- Manual tools only; they are not intended for drills, powered screwdrivers or impact tools.
- No torque limiter is fitted. Match tightening torque to the fastener, thread engagement and housing material.
- Tighten progressively in printed parts, aluminium and small components to avoid deformation or stripped threads.
- The handles and shafts are metal. These tools are not insulated and no ESD protection is specified; disconnect power before working near electronics.
- Keep the tips clean and dry, and replace any tool with a rounded, bent or cracked tip.
Related fasteners
The 2.5 and 3 mm drivers can be used with the corresponding variants of the DIN 912 / ISO 4762 socket-head cap screws. Always check the table for the selected fastener because the head style determines the required driver size.
