0.4 mm MK8 Brass nozzle for 1.75 mm filament. This is a balanced size for general-purpose 3D printing, combining good detail with moderate flow requirements and relatively straightforward calibration.
It has an M6 × 1 thread and a nominal overall length of 13 mm. Thread, length, seating geometry and contact with the hotend heatbreak must all match to confirm compatibility.
Nominal dimensions

A versatile general-purpose size
The 0.4 mm outlet is one of the most commonly used sizes in FDM printing. It is suitable for decorative parts, prototypes and functional components while maintaining a reasonable balance between surface finish, strength and printing time.
Slicer profiles are also widely available for this size, although flow, retraction and first-layer settings must still be calibrated for the specific hotend, extruder and material.
Compatibility
Compatible with MK8 hotends using 13 mm long M6 × 1 nozzles. This geometry is found on many Creality Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro, Ender 3 V2 and CR-10 printers fitted with a conventional MK8 hotend.
Compatibility does not automatically extend to every Creality machine. The K1, Ender 3 V3, Ender 3 V3 KE or SE, Ender 5 S1, Ender 7 and other recent models may use longer, integrated or differently seated nozzles.
Recommended materials
Brass provides good thermal conductivity and is suitable for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU and other conventional non-abrasive filaments. A compatible hardened nozzle is preferable for carbon fibre, glass fibre, metal, mineral or similarly abrasive materials.
Installation
Install the nozzle according to the hotend manufacturer's instructions. The seal must be formed between the nozzle and heatbreak, rather than solely between the hex section and heater block. Final tightening is normally performed with the assembly heated.
Hold the heater block without applying force to the thermistor or heater cartridge. After replacement, check the Z height, probe offset and first layer.
Other available diameters
- 0.3 mm MK8 Brass nozzle: increased definition for small details.
- 0.5 mm MK8 Brass nozzle: wider lines and increased material output.
