Description

Four-conductor cable for connecting a stepper motor to a controller board or driver. It has a 2.0 mm pitch PH-type connector on the motor end and a four-position XH-type connector on the electronics end.

Its 1 metre length is suitable for many 3D printers, small CNC machines, laser engravers and automation projects.

Key features

  • Approximate length: 1 m.
  • Number of conductors: 4.
  • Motor-side connector: 2.0 mm pitch PH type.
  • Electronics-side connector: XH type, commonly described as 2.54 mm pitch.
  • Materials: metal conductors, flexible insulation and plastic connectors.
  • Designed for four-wire bipolar stepper motors.

Compatibility

Physically compatible with motors and controller boards using the specified connectors. The NEMA 17 designation primarily defines the motor mounting dimensions; it does not standardise the connector or coil pinout.

Check the motor wiring diagram and controller-board pinout before connection. Do not assume that wire colours follow the same order across different manufacturers.

Wiring verification

  • Perform all connections and wiring changes with the machine and power supply switched off.
  • Identify both motor coils from the datasheet or by measuring continuity and resistance with a multimeter.
  • Connect each coil to the corresponding pair of driver outputs.
  • If the motor vibrates, makes unusual noises or fails to rotate, switch off the system and check the coil pairs.
  • If rotation is reversed, correct the direction in firmware or alter the wiring according to the machine diagram.

Other lengths and connectors

XH versions are also available in 0.5 m and 2 m lengths. For electronics using DuPont-type connections, see the 0.5 m and 1 m versions.
