V6 Plated Copper heater block designed for temperature sensors with a 3 mm cylindrical encapsulation. It is made from a special high-temperature copper alloy and features a nickel-based coating that protects the surface and reduces plastic adhesion.

Thermal performance

The high thermal conductivity of copper promotes heat transfer throughout the block and can provide more uniform temperature control. This makes it particularly suitable for high-temperature printing configurations.

The softening point of the block does not represent the maximum operating temperature of the complete hotend. The actual limit also depends on the sensor, heater cartridge, nozzle, heatbreak, wiring, electronics and firmware.

Sensor compatibility

Sensor compatibility is mechanical and depends on the encapsulated body having a nominal diameter of 3 mm. It can be used, for example, with the 3 mm encapsulated NTC 3950 thermistor with Dupont connector or the 3 mm encapsulated NTC 3950 thermistor with XH connector.

It also accepts PT100 sensors and other RTD sensors with a 3 mm encapsulation, provided that their dimensions match the block housing.

The sensor type must be supported by the printer electronics and firmware. NTC thermistors and PT100 sensors use different reading systems. A PT100 may require a dedicated module, such as the MAX31865 for PT100 and PT1000 sensors, together with the corresponding firmware configuration.

Nozzles and hotends

The block is designed for V6 hotends and M6-threaded nozzles. Available options include:

It can also be used with third-party hotends using a V6 interface and M6 thread, provided that the sensor, heater cartridge, nozzle and heatbreak dimensions match.

Insulation and high temperatures

It can be combined with the V6 heater block silicone sock for a 3 mm encapsulated sensor, provided that its temperature rating is suitable.

For high-temperature operation, check the silicone sock temperature limit and remove it if the manufacturer's specified rating is exceeded.
