24 V, 50 W cylindrical heater cartridge for hotend blocks with a nominal 6 mm heater bore. Its power rating is suitable for extrusion systems designed or properly adapted to control a 50 W load.

It can be used as a replacement or for a custom hotend assembly, but it must not be treated as a direct upgrade for every 24 V printer. Check the heater block, controller output, MOSFET, wiring, terminals and power-supply capacity before installation.

The heater cartridge has a declared rating of up to 350 °C. This value applies only to the heating component and does not define the maximum hotend temperature. The complete system is limited by its heater block, heatbreak, sensor, wiring, firmware, connectors and surrounding materials.

Compatibility

  • V6, Volcano and derivative heater blocks with an actual Ø6 × 20 mm cartridge bore.
  • 24 V printers and machines whose electronics can safely control a 50 W load.
  • Custom hotends using an independent temperature sensor and a suitable cartridge-retention system.

This is not a direct replacement for every 24 V, 40 W heater. Even when it fits physically, the higher power changes current draw and thermal response. Original Prusa MK3 and MK3S printers nominally use a 24 V, 40 W heater, so fitting a 50 W cartridge would require electrical-capacity, wiring and thermal-control checks.

It is not suitable for flat, ring-shaped or integrated heaters such as those used by Bambu Lab, E3D Revo, Phaetus RAPIDO, Dragon ACE or CHC heater blocks.

Checks and installation

  1. Confirm that the machine operates at 24 V and that the output can handle at least 50 W and approximately 2.08 A.
  2. Measure the cold, disconnected cartridge. A reading near 11.5 Ω helps identify the 24 V/50 W version; investigate a significant difference before installation.
  3. Insert the cartridge fully into the heater block.
  4. Secure it without puncturing, crushing or deforming the metal sheath.
  5. Protect its cables from pulling, repeated movement, abrasion and direct contact with the heater block or nozzle.
  6. Fit a connector rated for the current if required by the machine. No printer-specific connector is included.

Never power the cartridge in free air or outside the heater block. Before the first test, confirm that the temperature sensor reports a reasonable ambient temperature. Begin with a low target such as 50 °C while supervising the printer.

Firmware tuning

  • Marlin with PID: use M303 E0 C8 S210 U1, adapting the target to normal use, followed by M500. MPC configurations use their own procedure, commonly M306 T.
  • Klipper: run PID_CALIBRATE HEATER=extruder TARGET=210, followed by SAVE_CONFIG after a successful test.
  • RepRapFirmware: for a hotend configured as H1, run M303 H1 S210 and store the resulting M307 parameters according to the installed firmware version.

Keep the tuning temperature within the safe limits of the complete hotend and sensor. Never disable thermal protection or raise firmware temperature limits to compensate for an incorrect installation.
