Recreus Filaflex Purifier is a flexible polyether TPU filament rated at 82 Shore A, combining Filaflex elasticity with Pure.tech mineral technology. Recreus states that the formulation adsorbs CO₂, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that contact the surface, transforming them into mineral residues through catalytic and photocatalytic processes.
It is supplied as 1.75 mm filament on a 500 g spool in Mineral colour. It is suitable for covers, protective parts, footwear, textiles, seals, planters and flexible decorative objects where elasticity, durability and a large exposed surface are useful.
What the Purifier function means
The technology works at the exposed surface of the part. According to Recreus, ambient moisture and UV radiation participate in activation, and a larger or more textured surface can offer more contact area than a completely smooth part. The manufacturer describes the effect as automatic and durable over the object's lifetime.
A CO₂ adsorption test was carried out by the University of Alicante Technical Research Services. Filaflex Purifier pellets adsorbed 0.0022 g of CO₂ per gram of sample, equivalent to 0.216% by mass, at 25 °C and 760 Torr. The approximately 1 g sample had first been degassed under vacuum for 20 hours at 80 °C.
Scope of the test: this result confirms CO₂ adsorption by pellets under laboratory conditions. It does not establish an air-cleaning rate, performance per square metre, capacity in a room, behaviour of every printed part, regeneration or service life. The published report does not quantify NOx or VOCs either. Filaflex Purifier should therefore be treated as a complementary functional material, not as a replacement for ventilation, filtration or air-quality measurement.

Mechanical properties come from material or standard specimen tests. The final FFF part depends on orientation, perimeters, infill, moisture, temperature, line width and interlayer bonding.
Current Recreus print settings
Filaflex Purifier behaves as an 82A TPU and needs a well-guided filament path. Recreus publishes the following starting points, each tied to its nozzle, layer height and line width:
| Nozzle | Layer height | Line width | Initial maximum flow | Temperature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.4 mm | 0.20 mm | 0.35 mm | 3.2 mm³/s | 240 °C |
| 0.6 mm | 0.30 mm | 0.55 mm | 7.2 mm³/s | 242 °C |
| 0.8 mm | 0.40 mm | 0.75 mm | 12.8 mm³/s | 245 °C |
| 1.0 mm | 0.50 mm | 0.95 mm | 20.0 mm³/s | 248 °C |
TPU can stretch while being extruded, so Recreus uses line widths slightly below nozzle diameter. Do not copy the flow or speed alone without retaining the corresponding nozzle, layer and line-width combination.
Reference linear speeds
| Nozzle | External | Internal | Infill | Top/bottom | First layer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.4 mm | 22.85 mm/s | 34.27 mm/s | 45.70 mm/s | 27.42 mm/s | 13.71 mm/s |
| 0.6 mm | 21.80 mm/s | 32.70 mm/s | 43.60 mm/s | 26.16 mm/s | 13.08 mm/s |
| 0.8 mm | 21.33 mm/s | 32.00 mm/s | 42.67 mm/s | 25.60 mm/s | 12.80 mm/s |
| 1.0 mm | 21.05 mm/s | 31.58 mm/s | 42.11 mm/s | 25.26 mm/s | 12.63 mm/s |
Use the highest travel speed your machine can perform safely without missed steps to reduce oozing between features. The 200-500 mm/s range mentioned by Recreus is not automatically suitable for every printer.
Drying, bed and cooling
- Drying: 55 °C for at least 1 hour.
- Bed for small parts: unheated, at room temperature.
- Bed for large parts: 45-50 °C as a starting point.
- General fan: 0%.
- First layer: fan off.
- Layers below 8 seconds: up to 50% cooling if required.
- Nozzle: 0.4 mm or larger.
Retraction
| Nozzle | Published distance | Speed | Z-hop |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.4 / 0.6 mm | 1.5-3.0 mm | 40 mm/s | 0.2 mm |
| 0.8 / 1.0 mm | 2.5-3.5 mm | 40 mm/s | 0.2 mm |
These are manufacturer starting values, not a universal recipe. Direct-drive machines may work better with less retraction. If the filament compresses, buckles or stops feeding, reduce retraction, speed and idler pressure before increasing drive force.
Compatibility with specific printers
The preferred setup is a direct-drive extruder with a short, fully constrained path and little clearance between drive gears and hotend. This Filaflex 82A family performs particularly well in our HPRO printers with a correctly tuned profile and dry filament.
Recreus provides starting profiles in Bambu Studio for Bambu Lab P1P/P1S, X1/X1C/X1E and A1/A1 mini, and in PrusaSlicer for Original Prusa MK4/MK4S, CORE One and Prusa XL. A profile does not guarantee every revision, nozzle or loading path. Check the actual hardware and start with an external spool.
- Direct drive: likely compatible when the path is constrained and idler pressure can be kept moderate.
- Bowden: possible but more demanding than 95A TPU. Use low-friction PTFE with a short, straight path.
- AMS, AMS Lite, MMU and other automatic feeders: not compatible by default. Use an external spool unless the system explicitly supports the material.
- Hotend: must hold 240-248 °C reliably and accept the selected nozzle diameter.
Applications
- Flexible covers, grips and protective parts.
- Planters, vases and textured decorative objects with a large surface.
- Footwear, soles and insoles.
- Textiles, fashion items, bracelets and accessories.
- Seals, bumpers and impact-absorbing components.
- Flexible prototypes and parts intended to explore Purifier technology.
Chemical resistance must be validated against the actual liquid, concentration, temperature and exposure time. A general solvent-resistance statement is not permission for contact with fuel, acetone or regulated products.
Storage and safety
- Keep the spool sealed, dry, with desiccant and below 40 °C.
- Provide suitable ventilation while printing.
- Avoid generating or inhaling dust during sanding or machining.
- Do not burn the material: thermal decomposition can generate hazardous gases.
- It can be mechanically recycled when collected clean and separated by type, but this does not guarantee a local recycling route.
- It is not considered biodegradable; the safety documentation does not expect appreciable biodegradation.
Comparison with other Filaflex grades
Filaflex Purifier shares the 82A hardness of Filaflex 82A Original while adding the Purifier mineral formulation. For easier feeding, choose Filaflex 95A Medium-Flex. For a softer result, consider Filaflex 70A Ultra-Soft or Filaflex 60A PRO, bearing in mind that lower hardness generally makes feeding more demanding.
It is for you if
- You need a flexible, elastic 82A TPU from a European brand.
- You want to create a part with a large exposed surface and added environmental functionality.
- You preferably have direct drive and can dry the filament.
- You want detailed nozzle and volumetric-flow starting parameters.
It is not for you if
- You need a certified room or installation air-cleaning rate.
- You need a replacement for ventilation, filtration or air-quality sensors.
- Your printer can only load filament through an automatic feeder that does not support soft TPU.
- You want the feeding simplicity of 95A TPU without tuning the extruder, drying and retraction.
