Compact panel-mount mains power entry module combining an IEC C14 inlet, an illuminated O/I rocker switch and a removable fuse holder in one part. It provides a tidy installation for power supplies, 3D printers, CNC machines and other equipment, provided that it is correctly rated and wired for the application.

C14 and C13 explained

The part mounted on the equipment is a male C14 appliance inlet. The female connector normally fitted to the power cord is C13. They are the two mating halves of the coupler, but should not be confused when selecting a cable or describing the installation.

Wiring and electrical safety

As a general principle, live should pass through the fuse and switch before reaching the power supply's L terminal. Neutral connects to N. Protective earth PE must run directly from the inlet to the metal chassis and the power supply's PE terminal: it must never be switched or fused.

Important: do not identify a tab from its physical position alone. Follow the L, N and PE markings on the actual module and the power supply diagram. Illuminated switch arrangements can vary; if contact identification is required, continuity testing must only be performed with the module fully disconnected from mains power.

Use insulated terminals of the correct size and wire range, a proper crimping tool and suitable cable strain relief. All mains-connected parts must be protected against accidental contact inside an appropriate enclosure. Installation must be carried out by a qualified person and comply with the applicable electrical regulations.

Selecting the fuse

The fuse must not simply be selected from the module's 10 A limit. It must be rated for 250 V AC, have the correct physical format and protect the wiring and equipment according to load, inrush current and the power supply manufacturer's instructions. Before commissioning, open the holder and check the presence, dimensions, characteristic and rating of the fuse.

Compatible terminals

The tabs are catalogued as .187 / 4.8 mm. A 4.8 mm FDD2-187 female FASTON terminal may be used when tab thickness, wire cross-section and mechanical retention also match. Verify all three points on the actual unit before completing the installation.

Compatibility and mechanical installation

This is a generic solution for equipment requiring a detachable mains inlet and having room for panel mounting. Before cutting the enclosure, measure the received unit and check the cut-out, screw spacing, internal depth, fuse-holder access and the clearance required for terminals and wiring. Installing this module does not by itself make equipment compliant with a safety standard.

EQUIPMENT START UP:

  • Comply with the warning and information labels on the equipment.
  • Wear dry clothes and rubber shoes to ensure insulation.
  • Do not insert metal objects into the equipment through the ventilation slots.
  • Do not place containers full of liquids on the equipment (danger of short circuit in case of shock).
  • Do not use the equipment near strong magnetic fields (motors, transformers, etc.).
  • Do not expose the equipment to strong shocks or vibrations.
  • Allow the unit to stabilize at room temperature before taking measurements (important for accurate measurement).
  • Do not modify the equipment in any way.
  • The equipment must be opened for service or repair by qualified personnel. It is recommended that repair work be carried out in the presence of a second person trained to perform first aid if necessary.
  • Keep the power source away from children.
  • Before cleaning the box, pull out the plug from the socket. Clean only with mild household cleaner. Make sure that no water gets inside the equipment to avoid possible short circuits and damage to the equipment.
