Recreus Filaflex 82A Original flexible TPU filament – 1.75 mm

Recreus Filaflex 82A Original is a 1.75 mm flexible TPU filament developed by Recreus, a Spanish brand specialising in flexible materials for 3D printing. Its Shore 82A hardness provides a combination of high elasticity, strength and shape recovery, with elongation at break of up to 650% according to the manufacturer.

It is a suitable material for parts that need to bend, compress or stretch repeatedly, including gaskets, protective covers, grips, wheels, bumpers, soles, textile components and flexible industrial parts.

A highly flexible TPU that requires a properly adjusted printer

Filaflex 82A is considerably softer and more elastic than a conventional 95A TPU. This difference makes it possible to produce more flexible parts, but it also makes the filament more demanding to print.

Recreus recommends using a printer with direct extrusion and a well-constrained filament path between the drive gears and the hotend. Close guidance helps prevent the material from bending, compressing or escaping sideways before entering the hot zone.

It can be used with some Bowden printers, but compatibility should not be considered universal. For better results, use a low-friction PTFE tube, keep it as short and straight as possible and reduce the printing speed. Sharp bends, excessive clearance or friction may cause feeding problems.

Especially suitable for HPRO 3D printers

In our experience, HTA3D HPRO printers work very well with Filaflex 82A when a correctly adjusted profile is used. This makes them particularly suitable for users who regularly need to print flexible materials.

Although these machines provide a particularly favourable configuration for flexible filaments, the final settings may vary depending on nozzle size, layer height, part geometry and filament condition.

Printing parameters recommended by Recreus

The following values are a starting point for a 0.4 mm nozzle. They are not a universal profile and must be adjusted for each printer and part:

• Initial nozzle temperature: 240°C.
• Reference layer height: 0.20 mm.
• Reference line width: 0.35 mm.
• Initial maximum volumetric flow: 3.2 mm³/s.
• Suggested external perimeter speed: approximately 23 mm/s.
• Suggested infill speed: up to approximately 46 mm/s.
• First layer: approximately 14 mm/s.
• Room-temperature bed for small parts.
• Bed temperature between 45 and 50°C for large parts, if required.
• Part-cooling fan normally disabled; partial cooling may be used for very short layers, bridges or overhangs when required by the model.

Linear speed depends on layer height and extrusion width. For this reason, limiting the volumetric flow rate is generally safer than applying a single maximum speed to every printing configuration.

Tips for printing Filaflex 82A

• Dry the filament at 55°C for at least one hour before printing, particularly if it has been stored outside its sealed bag.
• Preferably use a direct-drive extrusion system.
• Keep the filament path short, constrained and as low-friction as possible.
• Do not overtighten the extruder gears, as this may deform the filament and restrict feeding.
• Start at moderate speeds and increase them only after confirming stable extrusion.
• Adjust retraction carefully. Excessive retraction may compress the filament or cause feeding problems.
• Avoid excessive first-layer compression because Filaflex provides strong bed adhesion.
• Store the spool in a sealed bag with desiccant to limit moisture absorption.

Available formats and colours

This product is available in 250 and 500 g options, depending on the selected colour. The range includes white, green, translucent, yellow, gold, nude, silver, blue, magenta, purple, fluorescent yellow, black, translucent orange and brown.

The availability of each weight and colour combination may vary. Select the required option before adding the product to the basket.

Choosing the right Filaflex hardness

Filaflex 82A provides greater elasticity than a 95A TPU but requires a more carefully configured printer. If an easier-to-print flexible material is required, particularly for a Bowden printer, the Recreus Filaflex 95A Medium-Flex may be a better choice.

For applications requiring even greater elasticity, consider Recreus Filaflex 70A Ultra-Soft or Recreus Filaflex 60A PRO. These materials are softer and considerably more difficult to process, so they require a machine and configuration specifically prepared for very flexible filaments.
